Working on my roll

Today was a rough day. I felt like I could not do scaling correctly. I need to work on my roll and going a little more inner proximal. I will throw a party the day that this all comes natural but in the mean time I'll try to be patient with myself:).

Gidgets and Gadgets

Today was fun in Dental Hygiene... we were able to look at different types of water picks, electric toothbrushes, tongue scrapers etc. It's amazing to see what people will invent for example the in the shower water tooth pick. In anatomy today we labeled our skulls with pencil... I'm hoping I'll be able to read mine enough to relabel so that it's legible.

Passing off exploring

I wasn't sure if I'd ever get familiar with exploring enough to pass off... But thanks to my typodont, some practice, and a bit more coaching...It's done!... I would love to get better and I can't wait to master this skill. But I do have to say... I feel a lot better than the first day they handed me the explorer... and that's what is great... seeing the little improvements here and there. Love it!

A little rushed.

Today was a little rushed...I still want more time to practice all of the techniques. But it still went well. I have enjoyed the Wednesday's clinics a little better because there are more instructors available. Today was fun because I was able to probe a different mouth... Miss Natalie. She helped me to learn how to better hold the mirror so that it was more comfortable for her. It was perfect... If I don't know what I'm doing wrong I can't fix it. I was able to fix it... Yeah!!

How to Brush and Floss.

I never realized how detailed it could get studying about toothbrushing and flossing. This was great information that I'm excited to share. I was always asked so many questions about the best ways to brush, the best toothbrushes, when to floss etc. It's been fun to now actually have the answers. I love it.

I see purple

Today was fun...we used a disclosing agent to see where we needed to brush more. It was really interesting to see where that lovely plaque likes to hide out. I need to roll down a bit more on my anterior teeth.:) We also had time for some much need practice with exploring. One day it'll all come and I'll be so happy!

A discovery was made

Yesterday was really interesting at the expense of poor Sara. We did a screening on each other, looking for any abnormalities and marked them in their charts. While I was looking at Sara’s mouth… there was nothing that seemed to be wrong. It was a bit boring until I looked back on number 19. There was a little, dark, dot, the size of a pin prick… I poked my explorer around in there… low and behold my explorer stuck. Poor Sara… we found her first cavity. It was fun to find and see.
